Embracing their Mexican culture and inherent passion for food, drink, and service, AZTECA'S Chef/Owner, Rolando Carino and his wife, Vicky, together with their sons, David and Steven, opened the first incarnation of Azteca in 2014. They moved to the current location in 2020 where the magic happily continues!

 

Still family-owned and operated, AZTECA continues to elevate the standard for bold, fresh flavors creating an authentic Mexican dining experience that’s become a favorite of locals, critics, and visitors alike. Chef Rolando was trained and worked side-by-side for over 20 years with Chef Peter Loria of critically acclaimed Café Matisse, also located in Rutherford, NJ. This experience coupled with Vicky’s more than 15-year tenure in the restaurant industry provides a wealth of knowledge resulting in an exceptional dining experience

 

A casual, affordable eatery, AZTECA’S menu demonstrates elements of Mexico’s long-established culinary traditions, paired with contemporary approaches and local flavor.  

 

Vibrant colorful murals, Mexican inspired artwork and beautifully painted tables and chairs throughout the restaurant create an inviting backdrop to Chef Rolando’s bright and bold Mexican fare.

 

AZTECA is a BYOB establishment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy fabulous red or white Sangria or sip a refreshing Margarita. Simply bring your bottle of choice and our talented waitstaff will whip up a pitcher to perfectly complement your meal.

 

Additionally, AZTECA offers private and semi-private party space ideal for any social or corporate occasion.

 

Conveniently located in Rutherford, NJ, AZTECA is easily accessible from Route 3, Route 17, Route 46, Route 80, the Garden State Parkway, New Jersey Turnpike and is near MetLife Stadium at the Meadowlands Sports Complex and the American Dream Mall.
